After strenous climbing, this is the rest place. Now, wait, this isnt een half the total height....
And this is where you actually realise what the sigiriya rock resembles - it is also called the Lion Rock and that what you see int he pictures - the gigantic paws. In fact the whole fort was constructed so as to enter the palace via a stoneway that leads right into the mouth and throat....Talk abt architecture those days.....
You can learn a lot more about the Rock here
You will also find some interesting information here
about early settlements of Sri Lanka - namely the Dravidians (south Indian inhabitors)

Wow! it is amazing. I'm stunned... speechless. I read both links and thinks it's very interesting, also saw some more frescos (there's a link from the first link on the post, did u see them?). I'm feeling more and more like visiting that place.
Those paws are fascinating, intimidating... it would've been great been able to go thru the mouth and throat of the lion, don't u think?
I hope we can talk more about what's on the second post if possible.
u ask if it wld be great to go through the mouth and throat? I wld have been speechless by seeing such a magnificient palace......in all its glory.
