The rock you see in the back ground of this picture is the sigiriya rock. Beleive me that an amazing well planned fort was on top of it. When we had booked for the package tour, we thought we might be staying in mediocre hotels. At sigiriya, we stayed in Hotel Sigiriya with such a view of the rock from the swimming pool side.
Sigiriya is yet another world heritage center by UNESCO. There aint many announced by UNESCO and Sri Lanka has a good share of it :-p
Now, I am always amazed at the capabilities of our ancestors that we have seemed to forget. They were able to conceive and vision what we now term as impossible/most difficult and wonder at the mysteries ( Pyramids for example) of the construction.
On top of that rock was a neatly designed capital city by King Kasappa !!!

U need to go to Macchu Picchu... when u go let me know. maybe i'm around and have time and money :P I have yet to go to that wonder (wichi is much closer than the others i want to see).
Poor u in such a horrible hotel, I'm amazed at the sacrifices u go thru just for the love to history :P

The hotel was amazing !!! WE though we would be in mediocre hotels, but we were placed in good hotels....

No, I havent read a lot about Incas....its been long time........
